Melbourne Cup hopeful Sertorius has been included in the Geelong Cup field and he will carry the top-weight of 58 kilograms in his hometown Cup.

Sertorius started his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a credible sixth in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30 and was seventh in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), but he missed the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 4 due to a minor setback and trainer Jamie Edwards elected not to run the Galileo gelding in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) after he finished ninth in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m).

The Freshwater Creek base of the Elmsley Lodge Team of Edwards and training partner Bruce Elkington is located just 15 minutes from the Geelong racecourse, but the Sertorius will be their first ever runner in the Geelong Cup.

You can find the best odds for Sertorius or any other runner in the 2014 Geelong Cup field with leading online bookmaker Ladbrokes.com.au.

Consistent stayer Shoreham has been included in the Geelong Cup field and trainer Saab Hasan is hoping that the Reset gelding can enhance his chances of running in the Melbourne Cup by taking out the Group 3 event.

Shoreham has performed fairly in the Listed The Sofitel (1400m), Caulfield RSL Welfare Plate (1700m) and Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) this preparation, but he has not recorded a race win since he took out The Sofitel in September last year.

Imported stayer Wish Come True failed to fire when he finished 13th in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) at Royal Randwick on October 4, but faces far more suitable opposition in the Geelong Cup on Wednesday.

Wish Come True performed well in his debut preparation in Australia in the winter and he has produced strong performances in the Listed Premier’s Cup (1800m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30 and the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup (2300m) at the start of his spring campaign.

One of the most interesting runners in the 2014 Geelong Cup field is talented filly Zanbagh, who will be stepping up to 2400 metres for the first time since she finished second behind Caulfield Cup runner-up Rising Romance in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) earlier this year.

Zanbagh has improved in each of her race starts this preparation and she finished a credible third behind Commanding Time in the Benalla Cup (2046m) on October 5.

More Than Sacred is another horse that will be taking other country cup form into the Geelong Cup after she finished a close second behind Cox Plate hopeful Mourinho in the Listed Cranbourne Cup (2025m) on October 12.

The More Than Ready mare is yet to record a race win in Australia, but she took out the Group 3 Waikato Times Gold Cup (2400m) in New Zealand last year before finishing third behind Who Shot Thebarman and Celtic Prince in the Group 1 Auckland Cup (3200m).

Harry White Classic winner Like A Carousel, Ciaron Maher-trained Marksmanship, imported galloper Caravan Rolls On, Benalla Cup placegetter Correggio, tough stayer Ominous, Robbie Laing-trained Ali Vital, South Australian mare Pretty Blonde and David Huxtable-trained Waltzing To Win round out the 2014 Geelong Cup field.
